This tutorial is about installing cutenews.

Before you install, the page you will be using cutenews on must be converted to php! Basically just put .php at the end of your page and you should be fine, haha.

You also must have a FTP program. I am using FileZilla because it is free, but it is all right if you use something else.

installing

001. First you must get cutenews here. Download it and extract it.

002. Open up your FTP program. Upload the cutenews folder to your site (in the main directory, assuming you want cutenews to show on the page index.php). (If you do not know how to upload by using an FTP program, you will need to reference another tutorial. I will make a tutorial upon request.)

003. Now you need to 'CHMOD' the cutenews directory. This sounds hard, but it really isn't, haha. For FileZilla you just right click the cutenews directory and click "File Attributes." For other programs like SmartFTP, it can be found under "Properties." Either way, a window should open up that looks something like this. You can either just check everything like shown, or (easier) just type in the Numeric Value as: 777! Click OK and you are set.

004. Now go to: http://yoursite.com/cutenews/. For example, I would go to http://whotrusts.net/cutenews/. Just follow the instructions, make your username and all of that. If something is not working you did not CHMOD properly.

005. Now open index.php (assuming that's where you want cutenews to go). If you put cutenews in the same directory as your index.php, all you have to do is put this code in the part of the page that you want the news to show:

006. Whenever you want to write something, just go to http://yoursite.com/cutenews/, login, and go to 'Add News.' It will automatically transfer to your site.

007. You have now successfully installed cutenews!
