Strictly Speaking

Chapter One

Status So far it is merely an outline of the first chapter. It is composed of little bits of detail, but that’s about it.

Synopsis Jack is a small boy when his grandfather is taken away. He does not remember much of the event, he just recalls waking up under the care of his grandmother. She never speaks a word of the incident. Even more unsettling, disappearances like this were not uncommon during that time period. Jack becomes your under-average joe, not really excelling in anything. But his fear eventually drives him to discover things of this world he does not particularly want to know.

Problems I’m having trouble sticking to a certain time period, I’m not sure which would mesh best with the story. It always seems to turn into some sort of a fantastical land, but I think I would prefer something that fits in with the modern world. I will have to do some research on good settings.

First Chapter It needs more detail and background information. Flashbacks of some kind might hinder the effect… I suppose Jack and his grandfather should engage in more dialogue.
